Difficult to maintain, but endlessly fascinating, The Dwarf Seahorse (also known as the Seapony) is usually brown or white in color, though some may be yellow or yellow with black stripes; still others may be white with little black dots.

The Spanish hogfish, Bodianus rufus, is a species of wrasse native to the western Atlantic Ocean, where it can be found from southern Florida and Bermuda through theCaribbean and the Gulf of Mexico to southern Brazil. It inhabits coral or rock reefs at depths of 1 to 70 m (3.3 to 229.7 ft). While the adults feed on such prey as molluscs,crustaceans, and echinoderms (brittle stars and sea urchins), the juveniles act as cleaner fishes. This species can reach a length of 40 cm (16 in), though most do not exceed 28 cm (11 in). This species is of minor importance to local commercial fisheries and can be found in the aquarium trade.

The High-Hat or Hi-Hat are carniverous fish that are easily identified by their high fin with black stripes. They are usually found in schools in shallow and deep waters. They require a minimum tank size of 75 gallons.

Parrotfish are most notorious for their behavior of chewing on live rock and corals while they look for food. While they are seldom attacking the coral itself, they can damage live corals and reefs while they grind the live rock in an effort to scrape off the encrusting algae and inverts that they are actually targetting. It is thought by some that parrotfish contribute to the creation of much of the coral sand in reef areas of the ocean!

The spotfin butterflyfish is a butterflyfish found in the western Atlantic Ocean, in the Gulf of Mexico and most commonly found in the Caribbean Sea. The name is derived from the dark spot on the fish's dorsal fin. The spotfin butterfly fish can grow up to 6–8 inches. Spotfin butterfly fish are very territorial and will kill each other if put in close conditions.

The jack-knifefish is a small fish, typically between 6 and 9 inches, that can occasionally be found on coral reefs in the middle western Atlantic Ocean, in the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, Florida and the Bahamas. They are known for their unique shape that sets them apart easily form other fish.

Serranus tigrinus is a species of fish in the family Serranidae, which includes the groupers. Its common name is harlequin bass. It occurs in the western Atlantic.
